Dr. David Macdonald has treated Falmouth families at the same Gifford Street location since 1978 — combining precise spinal manipulation, therapeutic massage, and rehabilitative care to relieve pain at its source.
Our office on Gifford Street
Dr. Macdonald, a Falmouth native, has practiced at this same location since 1978 after graduating cum laude from Palmer College of Chiropractic in Davenport, Iowa, and earning a BS degree from the University of the State of New York.
He completed a two-year postgraduate course in neurology through the New York Chiropractic College and has taken further postgraduate coursework in whiplash, orthopedics, and radiology.
Macdonald Chiropractic P.C. was first established in 1952, making it one of the longest-serving chiropractic practices on the Cape — for over 15 years, it was the only chiropractic office serving the Cape and Islands.
Chiropractors have developed and refined techniques to relieve muscular tightness, disc pressure, and nerve impingement — paired with appropriate exercise and nutrition guidance.
Case history, orthopedic and neurologic tests, and spinal range-of-motion studies. X-rays are taken in-office when necessary, with MRI ordered locally.
Controlled pressure applied to the spine's facet joints stretches and releases tissue adhesions to improve joint mobility after injury.
A relaxing therapy that gently rocks and stretches spinal joints using rollers that pass along the spine while you lie on a special table.
Our licensed massage therapist performs gentle manual therapy in a private, comfortable room to induce relaxation.
A mechanical device gently and quickly taps the body's surface to stimulate blood and lymphatic circulation and relax tight muscles.
More vigorous than percussion massage, a vibrating applicator helps release tissue adhesions, relax muscles, and stimulate joint movement.
Interferential current passes a mild, comfortable electric charge between four adhesive pads to help reduce pain.
Six Nautilus-type machines improve spinal joint and muscle function through safe, controlled, repetitive motion.
Variable traction gently separates the joints of the neck or low back, reducing pressure from a bulging, herniated, or ruptured disc.
It's best to wear light, loose clothing without excessive jewelry. Undressing isn't necessary except when x-raying, and we'll provide a loose-fitting shirt and pants if needed.
